Releasing soon
First of all let me thank everybody that has showed appreciation for this engine. I didn’t expect such popularity in so little time. It is really motivating.
I’m working in the details of the first release right now. I’ve already decided what functionalities will be included and what will be left outside this release. I’d like to include a couple more examples that show multiple scenes as well as how to properly use FFilmation events.
Finally, let me answer several questions that poped in the comments:
- I’ll be releasing the API very soon.
- It will be released with sources. Just place the classes on your classpath and compile from there.
- Commercial use will be fine. I’d like to know, however, just for pride’s sake.
- FFilmation is beggarware: If someone feels like giving something back It will be welcome. The main reason I’m doing this is because several years ago I did an isometric game for a client that had lots of potential but due to time and budget limitations I was forced to stop when it was very primitive and move to other projects ( banner campaigns, corporate websites, amazing stuff like that… ). Since then it has been an itch I had to scratch, and the perfect excuse to learn AS3.
- You will be free to modify the engine or copy-paste pieces of code into you own projects. Those interested in contributing please contact me before. I have a very clear idea of what direction this should go and would hate to reject someone’s contribution because it goes in another way.
- I’m co-owner of a flash production studio. If anyone is interested in hiring us for any project, either using the engine or not, please email me and we can discuss it privately.
Again thank you all for you appreciation !

Has your studio a website? I am always interested to know flash production studios.

Looking forward to it. The engine looks really promising. The putting of code into open source gives it a nice life beyond your ideas sometimes. It can make you famous. At least with the geeks, the ones that run this

I share those exact sentiments, fp. Although I hate to be impatient, but things hardly excite me these days.
